Photography and Digital Art :

New Works

Artworks not yet integrated into the collections.

Abstracts

Digital art. Collection's Statement: Color, shape, and movement simultaneously dance in unison and compete with one another as reality falls captive to my imagination.

Alternate Landscapes

Digital art. Collection's Statement: The search for other worlds is an integral component of the human condition. How can we be the only ones floating alone in such a vast universe? As I careen through space miraculously attached to our tiny planet by an unseen force, I look up at the sky and wonder. "Alternate Landscapes" are interpretations of my other worlds daydreams.

Blue Ghosts

Digital art. Collection's Statement: The idea of ghosts fascinates me; as does the illusive veil of blue sky above us. "Blue Ghosts" is my attempt to capture the elusive veil of our daily lives, and all the things that surround us that are here one day and gone the next; some beautiful, some old, but all amazing by the very fact that they exist at all.

Flower Ghosts

Digital art. Collection's Statement: A daydreamer from an early age, I often disappeared into my grandmother's garden to get away from everyone bent on derailing me from my musings. Flowers became silent, beautiful companions that each day captivated me more with their delicate beauty. Short-lived and wilting too soon as others took their place, their ghosts following me through the years and becoming the catalyst for my artistic career.

Fusion

Digital art created through integration. Collection's Statement: Life is a fusion of events, emotions, memories, and expectations that meld together to make us who we are. "Fusions" is my interpretation of how such diverse subjects can blend and appear to have always been one.

Human Woman: The Female Identity

Digital art. Collection's Statement: The struggle to adequately characterize the female identity has been long and hard, and no nearer to a resolution today than two centuries ago when women began demanding their right to be "equally viable" members of a male-dominated society. A lot has changed since then; our sex has risen to a level of power and recognition that exponentially exceeds the expectations of our equal-rights pioneering warriors. But a sexual/cognitive component of the stigma - one that seems almost impossible to overcome - still holds us hostage to too many of the old labels. Restrictions that we, ourselves, seem bent on perpetuating; incomprehensively, at the same time we fight to gain full control of our rightful place in society.

Light Tunnels

Digital art. Collection's Statement: Open the curtains and let the sunlight shine on the floor, the furniture; watch the water glitter as the full moon beams burst through night shadows; turn on the light and watch everything come to life. Light is one of the most magical components of our world. " Light Tunnels" captures that magic as I manipulate nature, water, objects using this illusive element as my starting point.

Nature's Symphony

Manipulated photography and digital art. Collection's Statement: In the process of creating, I sometimes like to deconstruct and integrate a broad range of elements into one work, and the power of technology gives me the ability to do so. I focus with intent, well aware of the steps I am taking, but the piece ends up forging its own identity, and I tend to forget the source from where it originated. That is magic, and that is one of the reasons I am so enamored with being a creating.

Portraits

Manipulated digital photographs. Collection's Statement: Living things travel through dark passages into the unknown; portraits freeze moments that forge memory lanes that serve as valuable points of reference.

Re-invented objects

Digital art. Collection's Statement: We are earthbound, but there are other fantastic worlds we sometimes visit but never inhabit. And, even though there is magic all around us, we deem the ocean (inner space), and the cosmos (outer space) far more mesmerizing than our realm. These works are my attempt to replicate the magic found there, and the invented things we dream about.

Treasures Hidden in Plain Sight

Manipulated photography of curbside rubbish. Collection's Statement: When I took the first few photographs of the garden cuttings and miscellaneous items people place on the curb for the garbage collectors to remove, I was amazed; but soon after I became mesmerized by the fantastic images that I can create from the variety of items found there. Add to that a few drops of rainwater, a returning sun glittering on them, a piece of plastic folded in some strange way, and I have a fascinating subject that I now seek out with excited anticipation. I learn more every day that beauty truly can be found in just about any place if one looks hard enough and pushes the boundaries of the imagination.

Water Play

Digital art. Collection's Statement: I find water mesmerizing; how it glitters in the sun, takes on the colors of the rainbow, and makes the sounds that can soothe or terrify us. When frozen in time by way of photography, the most amazing things can happen; when I play with it digitally and introduce new elements, there is no limit to the alluring beauty created.
